Died: 18 May 1799, Paris, France

French dramatist best known for creating Figaro in three plays; Le Barbier de Séville, Le Mariage de Figaro, and La Mère coupable. Invented a more accurate watch movement. After Voltaire's death, bought rights to most of the philosophers work, then mostly banned in France, and setup a printing plant in Kehl, Germany to print them. Also purchased the type foundry of the late John Baskerville to support that effort.
