Jenkin Lloyd Jones, 1911 - 20047845
Born: 1911, Madison, Wisconsin
Died: 24 February 2004, Tulsa, Oklahoma
Grandson of Jenkin Lloyd Jones, Unitarian minister, son of Richard Lloyd Jones, newspaper publisher. Richard bought the Tulsa Democrat in 1919, renamed it the Tulsa Tribune, and hired Jenkin as a reporter in 1933. He was the editor of the paper from 1941 to 1988 and publisher until 1991. He had a Saturday column, syndicated in about a hundred papers, that had a moderately conservative outlook. He covered the Nuremberg Trials and interviewed Albert Schweitzer in Africa. The paper died after 51 years in a Joint Operating Agreement with the Tulsa World, Jones died quietly at his home.
