Died: 31 January 1944, Paris, France

Giraudoux studied at the Lycée Lakanal at Paris and after graduating traveled extensively, mostly in Europe but included a year lecturing at Harvard. He returned to France in 1910 and took a position with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he served through World War I, becoming the first writer to be awarded the Legion of Honor during wartime. He is known today primarily for the plays he wrote between the World Wars.
