Born: 13 July 1942, Chicago, Illinois

Ford was a Boy Scout, including serving as camp counselor for the Reptile Study merit badge - he's not afraid of snakes like Indy is. He graduated in 1960 from Maine East High School at Park Ridge, Illinois where he was the first student voice carried on the high school's radio station, he covered school sports. He took a drama class at Ripon College in Wisconsin as a way to meet women, entered a conscientious objection to the draft, and headed to Los Angeles to record movie voice overs in 1964. Instead, he signed on with Columbia Picture's New Talent program for $150 per week. He quit acting in 1970 due to the poor roles and low pay. He was a stagehand for The Doors, but mostly he worked as a carpenter. He returned to acting indirectly, getting his first role for George Lucas in American Graffitti after building and installing cabinets in Lucas's kitchen. Francis Ford Coppola gave him parts in two movies after Ford remodeled the director's office. In 1975 Lucas hired him to read dialogue opposite actors trying out for Star Wars, eventually casting Ford as Han Solo. His career was solidified in 1981 with his first appearance as Indiana Jones and he's had a string of major roles ever since. Ford is also an avid flyer, owning eight aircraft including his favorite, a de Havilland Beaver that was originally flown by the CIA. He keeps his Bell 407 helicopter at Jackson, Wyoming where Ford is a volunteer with the Teton County Search and Rescue patrol, he has airlifted at least one lost hiker during these operations. (The dehydrated and disoriented hiker later said, "I can't believe I barfed in Harrison Ford's helicopter!") Ford is the chairman of the Young Eagles program of the Experimental Aircraft Association, a post long held by Chuck Yeager. A definite star at the Quotemaster's house, favorites being Witness, Air Force One, and Sabrina.
