Quotes of the Day for 12 May 2010 – George Carlin

George Carlin was born at New York City on this day in 1937. He dropped out of high school to join the Air Force, and was working as a radar mechanic at Shreveport, Louisiana when he started working as a disk jockey. He was a comedian for five decades, with varying levels of success, but always with a great ability to look freshly at things (and words) that the rest of us take for granted.

The quotes:

I don't have to tell you it goes without saying there are some things better left unsaid. I think that speaks for itself. The less said about it the better.

In El Salvador they declared a cease fire after ten years. Why didn't they think of that at the beginning?

Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that.
