Quotes of the Day for 8 May 2010 – Mother's Unday
I walk a tightrope every Mother's Day. On the one hand, I dearly love my mother and can't snub her by skipping Mother's Day in the quotes selection. On the other, I married a wonderful woman who had a bad relationship with her mother, is not and never will be a mother herself, and can't stand the saccharine Hallmarkian celebration every year. I have decided to occasionally observe Mother's Unday on the day before, much like some Scandinavians celebrate St Urho's Day the day before St Patrick's. If you're completely comfortable with the traditional approach, you might want to hit Delete right now. If these resonate with you, you may not want to open tomorrow's issue.
