Quotes of the Day for 5 March 2009 – Congress
After reading so much of the tumult and rancor in Congress these days, I was amused to note that it was on this day in 1845 that Congress appropriated $30,000 to ship camels to the western US. I don't know if that was intended as some kind of stimulus, but it sounds as if some things never change. Should you think that these quotes are unnecessarily critical of our elected representatives, note that one of them was the son of a noted representative, the others all were elected to Congress themselves.
