Quotes of the Day for 7 September 2004 – Water

It is depressingly common to see Quotes of the Day bounced by company e-mail systems as spam or for violating a "business use only policy" of some sort. When this happens, the subscribers miss their quotes and I spend time sorting through the bounces. Of course, we all know that quotes are an important contribution to any employee's development and are often used directly in their work. For example, Jeff in Florida, the regional sales manager or a major company, is putting together a conference with Water as the theme. And how will he promote this event? Partially with trenchant quotes, of course. So these quotes on Water are for Jeff, and they are 100% business related!

The finest workers in stone are not copper or steel tools, but the gentle touches of air and water working at their leisure with a liberal allowance of time.
     - Henry David Thoreau, 1817 - 1862

The highest goodness is like water. Water benefits all things and does not compete. It stays in the lowly places which others despise. Therefore it is near The Eternal.
     - Lao-Tzu

If there is Magic on this planet, it is contained in water.
     - Loren Eiseley, 1907 - 1977

Man always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.
     - Douglas Noel Adams, 1952 - 2001
