The first women's rights convention assembled on this day in 1848 at Seneca Falls, New York. It was organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton met Lucretia Mott. The convention was attended by 200 women and 40 supportive men, and was the occasion of Amelia Bloomer introducing pants for women, called "Bloomers" for the first time.
