Quotes of the Day for 2 June 2004 – Swimming

Peter János Weissmüller was born at Freidorf, Austria-Hungary (currently Timisoara, Romania) on this day in 1904. He grew up in Chicago (where he was called Johnny) and became a champion swimmer while at the University of Chicago. He won three Olympic medals in 1924 and two more in 1928 and set 67 world records during the '20s. I had a request for swimming quotes, and decided that Weissmüller's birthday is a good time to run them. In addition to his swimming, he starred in the title role in twelve Tarzan movies.
