Quotes of the Day for 30 April 2004 – Difference

I've had occasional requests for quotes about the difference between women and men. I don't know if these answer the question, or even come close.

The quotes:

There's very little advice in men's magazines, because men don't think there's a lot they don't know. Women do. Women want to learn. Men think, "I know what I'm doing, just show me somebody naked."
     - Jerry Seinfield

Sometimes I wonder if men and women really suit each other. Perhaps they should live next door and just visit now and then.
     - Katharine Hepburn, 1907 - 2003

If Sigmund Freud had watched Phil Donahue he would never have wondered what women want.
     - Nora Ephron

Women are never disarmed by compliments. Men always are. That is the difference between the two sexes.
     - Oscar Wilde, 1854 - 1900

The main difference between men and women is that men are lunatics and women are idiots.
     - Rebecca West, 1892 - 1983

For men at most differ as heaven and earth,
But women, worst and best, as heaven and hell.
     - Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Idylls of the King: Merlin and Vivien

I do not know if you remember the tale of the girl who saves the ship under mutiny by sitting on the powder barrel with her lighted torch ... and all the time knowing that it is empty? This has seemed to me a charming image of the women of my time. There they were, keeping the world in order ... by sitting on the mystery of life, and knowing themselves that there was no mystery.
     - Isak Dinesen, pen name of Karen Blixen, 1885 - 1962
