Quotes of the Day for 25 November 2003 – Friendship

In celebration of those blessings for which we give thanks, I am choosing one for each day of this week. We started with Wisdom, then Service. Tomorrow will be Home, Thursday, inevitably, will be Abundance. I'll follow that with Peace, and finally Love. Today's theme is Friendship. I am thankful for a few friends that have stuck with my for decades, many who are recent additions, and all of you who I know only through this daily sharing of quotes.

The quotes:

In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge. The young they keep out of mischief; to the old they are a comfort and aid in their weakness, and those in the prime of life they incite to noble deeds.

     - Henry David Thoreau, 1817 - 1862

From quiet homes and first beginning,
  Out to the undiscovered ends,
There's nothing worth the wear of winning,
But laughter and the love of friends.
     - Hilaire Belloc, 1870 - 1953

Treat your friends as you do your pictures, and place them in their best light.
     - Jennie Jerome Churchill
