Quotes of the Day for 1 January 2003 – Beginning

After the lovely Larkin and I had noted that the New Year was upon us, I mentioned that I didn't have my theme planned yet, but I would come up with something. Since this seems to be her week for a cold and laryngitis, she grabbed a pad and wrote: "Wish your readers peace of mind and heart, and a circle of friends who will encourage their dreams, cheer for their successes, and offer support in their disappointments." Please consider that our wish for you.

This is the third New Year's Day edition of Quotes of the Day I have assembled. The first two were about Beginnings, and I don't see any good reason not to keep that trend going.
