Quotes of the Day for 29 December 2002 – Hair
Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson was born at Paris on this day in 1721. In 1744 she came to the attention of Louis XV who remember her the next year when his "declared mistress" died. The king installed Jeanne-Antoinette at Versailles as his official mistress, giving her the title of Marquise de Pompadour. Apparently she not only amused him in many ways, but served as a valued advisor, particularly on cultural issues. Beautiful, witty, and intelligent, today all we are likely to remember of her is a hairstyle she inspired. So here are some quotes on Hair.
