Quotes of the Day for 28 November 2002 – Abundance
Thanksgiving Day itself is now upon us, the day in which most Americans prepare so much food that leftovers fill the refrigerators. You probably shouldn't weigh yourself before and after this afternoons meal. If the cook in your house is anything like me, you probably don't want to test your blood pressure afterwards, either! (I'm not cooking today, so my family will be spared that risk this year.) Still to come in the Thanksgiving Week Quotes: Peace, and Love. As promised, today's theme is Abundance.
There is enough for all. The earth is a generous mother; she will provide in plentiful abundance food for all her children if they will but cultivate her soil in justice and in peace.
- Bourke Coekran
Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes of which all men have some.
- Charles Dickens, 1812 - 1870
The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much, it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.
- Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1882 - 1945
What is called genius is the abundance of life and health.
- Henry David Thoreau
Not what we have But what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance.
- John Petit Senn
Many a man curses the rain that falls upon his head, and knows not that it brings abundance to drive away hunger.
- Saint Basil
