Quotes of the Day for 24 November 2002 – Faith
In the US, Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday of this week, and I'm going to set aside my normal cynicism for the whole week, as I am truly thankful for manifold grace and multiple blessings. If you are among our foreign readers, think of it as "Gentle Virtues Week." Here's the planned subjects: Faith, Friendship, Serenity, Family, Abundance, Peace, and Love. (Cynics among the readership might note that this is the first time I've ever planned a week in advance.) I'll start with Faith.

- Corrie Ten Boom
A garden is evidence of faith. It links us with all the misty figures of the past who also planted and were nourished by the fruits of their planting.
- Gladys Taber
Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.
- Henry Ward Beecher, 1813 - 1887
Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.
- Martin Luther King, Jr, 1929 - 1968
Faith is not making religious-sounding noises in the daytime. It is asking your inmost self questions at night - and then getting up and going to work.
- Mary Jean Irion
Faith is the daring of the soul to go farther than it can see.
- William Newton Clarke
