Quotes of the Day for 20 October 2002 – Return

On this day in 1944 General Douglas MacArthur stepped ashore at Leyte in the Philippines, and declared, "I have returned." I decided this was probably a sign that I, too, should return to my task here at Quotes of the Day. I had a good trip, but it was quite a scramble getting ready to be gone, and then a scramble to catch up with the emergencies that arose while I was absent. And no, I haven't yet returned all my phone calls!
