Quotes of the Day for 3 October 2002 – Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born at Porbandar, Kathiawad, India on the second of October 1869. (I was trying to reconfigure a server, and couldn't get quotes out on his actual birthday. Would you believe that I waited a day because he was born on the other side of the International Date Line? I didn't think so!) His family sent him to England to study law, but when practicing in South Africa he devoted himself to the plight of the Indian immigrants there. He led the peaceful resistance to British rule in India, and was shot at prayer in 1948.
