Quotes of the Day for 26 September 2002 – Warnings

An hour or so ago I was driving my Jeep down the highway. It was midnight, dark of course, and a deputy sheriff took interest because, unbeknownst to me, my rear hatch had come open so he couldn't see my license plate, and right there in the back was a pair of computer monitors. I'll admit it did look suspicious. He lit me up, and since my explanation was reasonable and my papers were in order he let me off with a warning - and gave me the theme for today's quotes.

     - Michael J. Gelb

It would be nice if the Food and Drug Administration stopped issuing warnings about toxic substances and just gave me the names of one or two things still safe to eat.
     - Robert Martin Fuoss, 1912 - 1980
