Quotes of the Day for 11 September 2002 – Peace

Today we mark the anniversary of Al Qaeda's vicious attacks on the US, and there are those who have begun to beat the drums of war. I'm not sure if war is the right answer, and I'm definitely not sure that Iraq is the right target. But even if war is on the path we must follow to reach it, the goal is Peace.

The quotes:

All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small an influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field.
     - Albert Einstein, 1879 - 1955

Courage is the price that life extracts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from little things; Knows not the livid loneliness of fear.
     - Amelia Earhart

Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice.
     - Baruch Spinoza

No one would be foolish enough to choose war over peace - in peace sons bury their fathers, but in war fathers bury their sons.
     - Croesus of Lydia

Peace is not something you wish for; it's something you make, something you do, something you are, something you give away.
     - Robert Fulghum

Those who can win a war well can rarely make a good peace and those who could make a good peace would never have won the war.
     - Winston Churchill, 1874 - 1965
