Quotes of the Day for 19 May 2002 – Perseverance
A while back I mentioned the coast-to-coast unicycle trip my friend Lars Clausen is undertaking. I get occasional mail from the road, talking about getting underway at 5 am and covering up to 80 miles against the wind. Last word I had he was over the Continental Divide and running downhill in Montana. It's quite a story, available online at http://www.onewheel.org, and speaks of both spirit and, today's theme, Perseverance.

- Samuel Johnson
In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins - not through strength but by perseverance.
- H. Jackson Brown
Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another.
- Walter Elliott
A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down.
- Robert Benchley
The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.
- Henry Ward Beecher, 1813 - 1887
