Quotes of the Day for 8 January 2002 – Poverty

It was on this day in 1964 that US President Lyndon Johnson said, "This administration here and now declares unconditional war on poverty." Somehow I don't think that poverty can be defeated by government programs. Here are some other thoughts on the subject.
