Quotes of the Day for 18 November 2001 – Time

It was on this day in 1883 that standard time zones went into effect in the US and Canada, largely for the convenience of the railroads. Schedules were pointlessly complex when local time changed as you moved from east to west, but not when moving north to south. In honor of this conceptual breakthrough (of which I approve, unlike the later idiocy of "Daylight Savings Time"), today's quotes are on Time.
