Quotes of the Day for 26 September 2001 – Power of Nature

Monday evening a tornado ripped through the College Park campus of the University of Maryland, toppling trees, tossing cars around, ripping siding off buildings, injuring 25 and killing two students. One of our Terrapin readers brought this to my attention and suggested some quotes on the force of nature. Despite this disaster, normal class schedule resumes today, and Saturday's football game against West Virginia U will be played as scheduled.

Nature is indifferent to the survival of the Human species, including Americans.
     - Adlai Stevenson

In nature there are neither rewards nor punishments; there are consequences.
     - Robert Green Ingersoll
