Quotes of the Day for 1 August 2001 – Statistics

A recent quote mentioning Statistics caused our resident statistician to request I make that the theme for an issue. I figured there was a one in a hundred chance of having enough quotes on the subject to comply, apparently the probability of error in that analysis was large. That's okay, I have a friend who maintains that 78.4% of all statistics are simply made up.
