Quotes of the Day for 16 February 2001 – Snow

A week ago I used weather as the theme, because of how boring the weather had been this winter. I spoke too soon, as I write this it's been coming down for five hours. In the morning it will look like a Christmas card, except along the highway where the ditches will be full of errant automobiles. I'll stay home and work, here are some quotes on Snow.

The quotes:

They say that every snowflake is different. If that were true, how could the world go on? How could we ever get up off our knees? How could we ever recover from the wonder of it?
     - Jeanette Winterson

Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand - and melting like a snowflake.
     - Marie Beyon Ray

Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into, the mind.
     - Samuel Taylor Coleridge, 1772 - 1834

The memories of long love gather like drifting snow, poignant as the mandarin ducks who float side by side in sleep.
     - Lady Murasaki

I used to be Snow White - but I drifted.
     - Mae West, 1892 - 1980
