Quotes of the Day for 9 February 2001 – Weather

Today's quotes are on the subject of Weather for two reasons. First, I awoke yesterday to see snow on the ground and was grateful for how little dramatic weather we had gotten this winter. (I don't recall that we've had any snow this winter, and today's was gone by noon.) It's also the anniversary of the US Weather Service, founded on this date in 1870.

The quotes:

Weather is a literary specialty, and no untrained hand can turn out a good article on it.
     - Mark Twain

Despite the warnings of the ancient Greeks - nothing in excess - there are a few things in the world that you just can't have too much of. In addition to currency, I would mention, in no particular order, health, warm weather, ice-cream flavors, free time, second chances, and good taste.
     - Joe McGarvey, Inter@ctive Week

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.
     - Anthony J. D'Angelo

Weather is a great bluffer. I guess the same is true of our human society - things can look dark, then a break shows in the clouds, and all is changed.
     - Elwyn Brooks White
