Quotes of the Day for 29 December 2000 – Resolution

It is traditional to make resolutions on New Year's Eve, and since we're fast approaching the eve of a new century and millennium it might be a good idea to make one or more this year, even for those of us who don't always remember to make one (that's me) or those of us who have had problems with keeping them (that's me again - I must have resolved to quit smoking ten times). Here are some (mostly) encouraging thoughts on Resolution.

The quotes:

Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle yields to stern resolve. He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind.
     - Leonardo da Vinci

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other one thing.
     - Abraham Lincoln

Those who gave thee a body, furnished it with weakness; but He who gave thee Soul, armed thee with resolution. Employ it, and thou art wise; be wise and thou art happy.
     - Akhenaton, died c. 1354 BC

There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.
     - Ella Wheeler Wilcox

I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's.
     - Henry Moore
