Quotes of the Day for 8 November 2000 – Breaking Up

The quotes:

There is no despair so absolute as that which comes with the first moments of our first great sorrow, when we have not yet known what it is to have suffered and be healed, to have despaired and have recovered hope.
     - George Eliot

It is never any good dwelling on good-byes. It is not the being together that it prolongs, it is the parting.
     - Elizabeth Asquith Bibesco

Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love.
     - George Eliot

Parting is all we know of heaven, and all we need of hell.
     - Emily Dickinson
