Quotes of the Day for 19 October 2000 – Stepping Out

The quotes:

There is never any end ... There are always new sounds to imagine; new feelings to get at. And always, there is the need to keep purifying these feelings and sounds so that we can really see what we've discovered in its pure state.
     - John Coltrane

If in the last few years you haven't discarded a major opinion or acquired a new one, check your pulse, you may be dead.
     - Frank Gelett Burgess

At first people refuse to believe that a strange new thing can be done, then they begin to hope that it can be done, then they see that it can be done - then it is done and all the world wonders why it was not done centuries ago.
     - Francis Eliza Hodgson Burnett

Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.
     - Louis E. Boone
