Quotes of the Day for 2 August 2000 – Motivation

The great inventor and entrepreneur Alexander Graham Bell died on this date in 1922. The quotes:

When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.
     - Alexander Graham Bell

Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus.
     - Alexander Graham Bell

No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined.
     - Harry Emerson Fosdick

What this power is, I cannot say. All I know is that it exists, and it becomes available only when you are in that state of mind in which you know exactly what you want and are fully determined not to quit until you get it.
     - Alexander Graham Bell
