Quotes of the Day for 15 July 2000 – Rain

This is Saint Swithin's Day. On this day in 971 the remains of Swithun, the late Bishop of Winchester, were translated (moved) into the new cathedral. According to pious tradition many miraculous cures occurred and torrents of rain fell from the clouds. Legend says that if it rains today it will continue to Rain for 40 days.
