Quotes of the Day for 22 June 2000 – Aspirations
I aspire to having a perfect mailing list, with no bad addresses, and more importantly, with no copies going to anyone that doesn't want to get it. When subscribers get angry because they keep getting mail they don't want I clearly haven't done my job.
If you want out, look at the very last line of this mailing. That's the address that we are sending the mail to. No matter how many times you tell me to remove a different address, the mail will keep coming. Please check that first. Then go to the website in the instructions below, and in the last box, delete the "my e-mail" in the window and put your address in, and click the "Let me out!" button. Every day I get unsubscribe orders from "my e-mail" because no address was put it at all, addresses that aren't in the list, and addresses that are sent three or four times. Once is enough -if it's the right address. All subscription orders entered up to an hour ago have been processed, I always take care of that before mailing.
That's one of mine, here are some thoughts on more lofty aspirations!
Just as a cautious businessman avoids tying up all his capital in one concern, so, perhaps, worldly wisdom will advise us not to look for the whole of our satisfaction from a single aspiration.
- Sigmund Freud
The barriers are not erected which can say to aspiring talents and industry, "Thus far and no farther."
- Ludwig van Beethoven
The most important part of our lives - our sensations, emotions, desires, aspirations - takes place in a universe of illusions which science can attenuate or destroy, but which it is powerless to enrich.
- Joseph Wood Crutch
Our aspirations are our possibilities.
- Samuel Johnson
