It was on this day in 1928 that some enterprising souls there decided it was time to take advantage of Twain's yarn and actually organized a jumping contest, 51 frogs were entered. They've been jumping there every years since. In fact, the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee runs through Sunday. I don't think I'll get down there to watch the frogs, but I do have some Leaping and Jumping quotes.
When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap. When one jumps over the edge, one is bound to land somewhere. Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps. Let every man look before he leaps. When a Banker jumps out of a window, jump after him - that's where the money is. Thoughts, like fleas, jump from man to man. But they don't bite everybody.
