Edmund Burke was born at Dublin, Ireland on this day in 1729. He was educated at a Quaker school, attended Trinity College, Dublin, and then went to London to study law - a field he did not pursue. He spent a good part of his adult life in politics while writing at length on many subjects. His was a strong voice in favor of limiting the power of King George III. His support for the American Revolution was crucial in ending that war.
