Issues Index | Next => The year 2005 draws to a close today. We look back over the last twelve months, some will be happier than others with the recollections. It may have been good, bad, the best ever, or indifferent, but it's over. If thinking about it leads you to drink (and I believe we have a bottle of Asti Spumante chilled for the occasion), I recommend doing any drinking in the same building where you will sleep, I don't want to lose any subscribers on the roads tonight.
Everything that has a beginning has an ending. Make your peace with that and all will be well. Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. I wanted a perfect ending. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity. The beginnings and endings of all human undertakings are untidy. It isn't necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice - there are two other possibilities: one is paperwork, and the other is nostalgia.
