Some were more than a little warped, like Jim Morrison of the Doors, born on this day in 1943. I sang along, and sometimes tried to play along, with records (remember records?) from the Doors, the Kinks, Jethro Tull, the Grateful Dead, and Led Zeppelin. But always at the top of the list, both for his raw creative force and his willingness to take on the world, was John Lennon, shot dead in the entrance to his home on this day in 1980.
The pressures of being a parent are equal to any pressure on earth. To be a conscious parent, and really look to that little being's mental and physical health, is a responsibility which most of us, including me, avoid most of the time because it's too hard.
