Your Quotes for 26 September 2005 - Error

If you need to identify error, the fastest way is to share your thoughts with your friends. I didn't count the number of readers who wrote yesterday to point out that Christopher Reeve's heroic struggle is over, but it was certainly dozens. Reeve died on 10 October 2004 of heart failure related to complications from his paralysis. A handful also pointed out that the S was on his chest, never in his name. An error of such proportion clearly answers the question of whether or not anyone is reading the Quotes of the Day! The database has quite a few entries on the subject of Error, it may have been another error of mine not to share more of them sooner.

Whenever there is a simple error that most laymen fall for, there is always a slightly more sophisticated version of the same problem that experts fall for.
     - Amos Tversky, 1937 - 1996

If error is corrected whenever it is recognized as such, the path of error is the path of truth.
     - Hans Reichenbach, 1891 - 196-53

Truth lies within a little and certain compass, but error is immense.
     - Henry St. John, Viscount Bolingbroke, 1678 - 1751

An error can never become true however many times you repeat it. The truth can never be wrong, even if no one hears it.
     - Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, 1869 - 1948

Give me the fruitful error any time, full of seeds, bursting with its own corrections. You can keep your sterile truth for yourself.
     - Vilfredo Pareto, 1848 - 1923

Good nature and good sense must ever join;
To err is human, to forgive divine.
     - Alexander Pope, Essay on Criticism
