Your Quotes for 15 July 2005 - Rain

Today is Saint Swithin's Day. On this day in 971 the remains of Swithun, the late Bishop of Winchester, were translated (moved) into the new cathedral. Many miraculous cures were reported and torrents of rain fell from the clouds that day. According to pious tradition, if it rains today it will continue to rain for 40 days. I hope that only applies to Winchester, we're expecting showers here today.
