After the war the family moved to England and Tom took his stepfather's name to become Tom Stoppard. He dropped out of school to become a journalist, but after two years of reviewing drama he took to writing plays himself. His long list of credits includes Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Russia House, and Shakespeare in Love. Uncredited, he worked with George Lucas to polish dialogue for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
