Your Quotes for 22 June 2005 - Future

It seems to have escaped my notice so far this year that the school year is at an end. While the student tends to see it in that light, as the end of an era, it's much more important to see it as a beginning. Belatedly, these quotes on the Future are for those who have just graduated, although the thoughts are probably appropriate to anyone starting a new day.

The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
     - Alan Kay

We live in an age when to be young and indifferent can no longer be synonymous. We must prepare for the coming hour. The claims of the Future are represented by suffering millions; and the Youth of a Nation are the trustees of Posterity.
     - Benjamin Disraeli, 1804 - 1881

The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created - created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating.
     - John Schaar

The mind of man is capable of anything - because everything is in it, all the past as well as all the future.
     - Joseph Conrad, 1857 - 1924

There is nothing like a dream to create the future.
     - Victor Hugo, 1802 - 1885

I can feel guilty about the past, apprehensive about the future, but only in the present can I act.
     - Abraham Maslow, 1908 - 1970
