Water also shows up in today's history. It was on this day in 1733 that England's Joseph Priestly invented carbonated water, you could call him the father of soda pop. Much more recently, it was on this day in 1941 that Grand Coulee Dam here in Washington State went into operation, backing up an incredible quantity of water.
We never know the worth of water till the well is dry. One kernel is felt in a hogshead; one drop of water helps to swell the ocean; a spark of fire helps to give light to the world. None are too small, too feeble, too poor to be of service. Think of this and act. Upon those who step into the same rivers different and ever different waters flow down. The cure for anything is salt water; sweat, tears, or the sea. Buoyed by water, he can fly in any direction - up, down, sideways - by merely flipping his hand. Under water, man becomes an archangel. The society which scorns excellence in plumbing, because plumbing is an humble activity, and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy, because philosophy is an exalted activy, will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water.
