Quotes of the Day for 21 February 2005 - Erma Bombeck

Erma Louise Bombeck was born at Dayton, Ohio on this day in 1927. She started her career in journalism right out of high school, taking time off for college and later took time to raise a family. With her final return to newspapers everywhere, she became one of the most astute observers of the modern family, and possibly the most amusing. For today I tossed out all the housekeeping comments, everything about keeping warring children alive, and most of the diet stuff, and what's left reveals her as an inspiring guide to modern life.

It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else.

The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

Don't confuse fame with success. Madonna is one; Helen Keller is the other.

If you can't make it better, you can laugh at it.

Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the "Titanic" who waved off the dessert cart.

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, "I used everything you gave me."
