Galileo Galilei was born at Pisa on this day in 1564. At a time when the now-familiar orbits of the planets around the sun were considered heresy, he not only accepted the work of Copernicus but built the finest and most powerful telescopes to help demonstrate that the sun was not the center of the universe. In response, the Inquisition arranged for him to spend the rest of his life under house arrest, forbidden to publish, for the heinous sin of being correct.

I would say here something that was heard from an ecclesiastic of the most eminent degree; "That the intention of the Holy Ghost is to teach us how one goes to heaven, not how the heaven goes."
