Quotes of the Day for 26 October 2004 - Shoot

It is unclear exactly what went down on this day in 1881 at Tombstone, Arizona, but history calls it the "Shootout at the OK Corral".      - François Marie Arouet (Voltaire), 1694 - 1778

     - George Orwell, 1903 - 1950

Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors and miss.
     - Robert Anson Heinlein, The Notebooks of Lazarus Long

     - Tyne Daly

To shoot a man because one disagrees with his interpretation of Darwin or Hegel is a sinister tribute to the supremacy of ideas in human affairs - but a tribute nevertheless.
     - George Steiner

There is a new billboard outside Time Square. It keeps an up-to-the-minute count of gun-related crimes in New York. Some goofball is going to shoot someone just to see the numbers move.
     - David Letterman
