Issues Index | Next => On this day in 1977, a 30-member team of West German commandos stormed a hijacked Lufthansa airliner on the ground at Mogadishu, Somalia, freeing all 86 hostages aboard and killing three of the four hijackers. The passengers had been vacationing in Majorca and had taken off to return home to Germany four long terrifying days before. I fear I would have given up all hope, but Rescue came.
