Quotes of the Day for 26 August 2004 - Christopher Isherwood

Christopher William Bradshaw Isherwood was born at Disley, Cheshire, England on this day in 1904. His father, an army officer, was killed in World War I. Isherwood was educated at Cambridge, then studied medicine at King's College London but gave that up to teach English in Berlin from 1930 to 1933. Based on the decadent environment between the wars, Isherwood wrote "Goodbye to Berlin" in 1939, which became a play called "I Am a Camera" in 1951, and the hit musical "Cabaret" in 1966, released on film in 1972.
