Issues Index | Next => When you get through today, half of the year will be over. (In most years, the year would be half over at noon, but we have to wait until midnight in leap year.) This may or may not be good news, of course; I know I've gotten less than half the year's tasks done so far. Today's theme is Half.
Many of us spend half our time wishing for things we could have if we didn't spend half our time wishing. Mankind are very odd creatures: One half censure what they practise, the other half practise what they censure; the rest always say and do as they ought. The most important trip you may take in life is meeting people halfway. Oh, to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and only half as stupid as my teenager now thinks I am. A wise man's question contains half the answer. Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.
