Issues Index | Next => At this point in the move I'm starting to consider books to be both blessing and curse. I'm thinking of them because there are a couple that I really need but can't find, a couple of interesting titles I don't recall owning that turned up, and my back still hasn't recovered from all the lifting. But after I get the quotes on their way I'll take a couple of aspirins and curl up with one of the thousands of Books that did get on shelves here.
That is a good book which is opened with expectation and closed with profit. Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. Only two classes of books are of universal appeal. The very best and the very worst. A book should serve as the ax for the frozen sea within us. The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame. Beware of the man of one book. Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
