On this day in 1618, some of the Protestant nobility of Bohemia were gathered to discuss their differences with the Roman Catholic Duke Ferdinand at Hradčany castle. They grabbed two Imperial governors and a scribe and threw them bodily out the castle window. They chose the wrong window, Ferdinand's men fell in a mound of stable sweepings and lived. The event is known as the second Defenestration of Prague and started the bloody Thirty Years' War. I don't have any quotes on defenestration per se, but here are a few on Windows.
